I'm the half-Polish son of two concert pianists. Actually performing music never rubbed off on me the way it should have, but my appriciation for music did and now I'd sooner go blind than live without the stuff. I try to go to shows about once a month, sometimes more if I can. I like raw music that transplants me into a realm of pure sonic chaos and plants visions of dark spirits in my head: noise, punk rock, and psychedlia, but I'll listen to just about anything.
I play a lot of videogames, though I rarely have the energy and dedication to finish them anymore. I like writing about them when they're good, and sometimes when they're not. It may come up from time to time, though this is certainly not exclusively a gaming blog.
From an early age, I held an interest in Japan. I ended up declaring Japanese as my major in college, and currently reside in the countryside of the Chubu region. Gifu isn't the most interesting place I've been to in the country, but it isn't bad once you get used to it either. As you might expect my job is, of course, teaching English. I have mixed feelings about the organization I work for, but on the whole my life is pretty easy and I'm enjoying riding my bike through rice paddies and watching the seasons change.
What ultimately decribes me, and something I am most fond of, is my love of contrasts: light and dark, anima and animus, beauty and ugliness, and the belief that the two can be one in the same. My recently developed taste in music reflects this, as does my outlook on life in general I suppose. I believe that it is in the place where two extremes meet and form ambiguous shadows that truth itself lies, and that the answers to life's biggest questions require personal interpretation rather than logical thinking. Does this make sense? Maybe not. That happens sometimes with me.
This blog has no real purpose or concept behind it. I sometimes feel compelled to write things, and when I do, what flows through me usually ends up here in some form or another. As such, this blog is whatever I want it to be at any given time. If anything connects with you, do comment, and feel free to add me. I don't mind talking to strangers, though I still refuse candy and/or car rides from them. Those infomercials I was bombarded with in the 80's can't have been wrong, after all!
